AIR INDIA DREAMLINER CRASHES IN AHMEDABAD, 241 FEARED DEAD

AHMEDABAD: A devastating Air India Boeing 787 Dreamliner, en route from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, crashed shortly after takeoff on Thursday afternoon, claiming the lives of an estimated 241 people. Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the intense heat from the burning fuel left no chance for survival for those on board.

The ill-fated flight carried 242 individuals, including two pilots and 10 cabin crew members. The majority of passengers were Indian nationals, along with 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian. In a miraculous turn, one person is reported to have survived the horrific incident. DNA tests are currently underway to confirm the identities of the victims, many of whom are severely burnt and unidentifiable. Bodies are being received at Civil Hospital’s trauma centre.

The aircraft also crashed into the BJ Medical College hostel in Meghaninagar, resulting in injuries to at least 20 medical students.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport is now partially operational following the tragedy.

In response to the disaster, Air India is dispatching two relief flights from Delhi and Mumbai to assist victims' families and staff. A dedicated passenger hotline, 1800 5691 444, has been established by Air India to provide further information. The Tata Group has announced a compensation of ₹1 crore for the families of each person who perished in the CRASH
